Folic acid the guard, ensuring the safety of mother and fetus




Pregnant women is the desire of every happy family. Every family want the presence of safely child. To ensure safety, we need to know about how to maintain the health of mother and fetus.



The obstetrician suggested the importance of attention to the health of pregnant women, particularly the pattern of daily life. Whether it's diet, daily activities, exercise, and environmental conditions. Folic Acid

Folic acid is another name for vitamin B9. This vitamin is very important for the body because it plays a role in the formation of red blood cells. The role of folic acid is very important for women associated with menstruation cycle to prevent anemia.

Folic acid is also important for preventing neural tube defect in the fetus. Adequate intake of folic acid before and during pregnancy will reduce the risk of premature birth, brain defects and neural tube defects in infants.

Normal requirement of folic acid in adult women was 0.4 to 0.6 milli-grams per day. Meanwhile, a pregnant woman needs to increase to 0.8 milli grams per day.

Sources of Folic Acid

Folic acid can be proved very easily in the environment around us. Here are some sources of folic acid:
1. Eggs
Folic acid is found in eggs in egg whites. Folic acid content in chicken eggs which reached 14.67 mcg/l00g.

2. Fruit
Fruits like Orange, Strawberry, Banana and Avocado contains high levels of folic acid. Oranges are rich with vitamin C, oranges turned out to contain high levels of folic acid, 80 mg to 100 mg, it means one orange was able to meet 20% of the daily requirement for folic acid.

3. Dark green vegetables
Vegetables such as broccoli, spinach, kale, mustard greens, and beans are also source of  folic acid.
